Reindeer from Guest Post at Sugarbelle!

I have had a few inquiries looking for this little guy in my Etsy Shop. Remember him from last year? I designed him for a Guest Cookie Post over at The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle. You can find that post HERE.

Today I am putting him up as an early "Friday Freebie." Feel free to use him to make your holiday cookies or cards! I would love to see what you make, so if you like, post your creative creations over on my Facebook page, HERE.

Have a great holiday season!!!

Tips for Drawing Basic Expressions

I quickly found out once I started cookie decorating, that drawing with a pencil and piping with icing are two very different worlds!

Even though these worlds are far apart, if we look at the simplicity of a drawing, we can transfer a lot of the main "emotion" to a cookie.

Understanding the "main" things to look for in expressions, can help when you are designing your characters cookies. I made a little video of me explaining some of these things in very basic terms. So please go easy on me!

Valentine's Day Cupids!

Happy Valentine's Day!
I thought I would share the stages of progress I go through when making my images for the shop,

The top left: Initial sketch. Very rough! just enough to get my idea across. This is why I love using a colored pencil.

Bottom left: Pulled together image. Still a tad rough, sketchy line. I like this line. I feel as though it keeps the drawing alive!

Drawing on right: Photoshop image, pulled into black and white and put up on the Etsy Shop

Thanks for stopping by!

Hope you have a great Valentine's Day!!!!

Introducing My New Etsy Shop: Drawn with Character!

I am so happy to announce my newest venture into digital images! Drawn with Character was created after spending a few years decorating cookies. During this time I discovered that many cookie artists used a projector called KopyKake or Artograph to transfer images onto cookies.
Although this was a simple procedure, finding artwork online and printing it off for use… it was however illegal.
I wanted to provide these wonderful cookie artists with a place to go for images that were "safe" to use for selling cookies.

All my images come with a small commercial license. My policies explain it in more details.

Although, I talk about using my images on cookies, all my images are MULTI-USE. They can be used as digital images for all kinds of scrapbooking, card making, coloring pages and digital stamps needs.

Have a look and let me know what you think!

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!
